Providing Safe, Authentic, and Non-Judgmental Mental Health therapy Across Maine—Proud LGBTQIA+ Ally and Neurodivergent Affirming!
Therapeutic Alliance Services, LLC was founded in 2024 by Danielle Austin, who envisioned a different approach to mental health care. After years of working in community mental health, she realized it didn’t align with her values or the impact she wanted to make. Tired of working under others who controlled every aspect of her practice—including who she could work with and how she expressed her authentic, vibrant personality—Danielle chose to create a space where she could fully embrace who she is and offer clients the freedom and support they deserve.
Danielle created a space where clients can be their true, authentic selves—free from judgment—and feel safe within a supportive, healing environment. Her vision is to grow the practice with like-minded providers, mentor newly licensed clinicians in a relaxed and accepting setting, and welcome individuals seeking a refreshing, unconventional approach to therapy.

Danielle Austin, the heart and mind behind our practice, is a dedicated mental health professional with over 15 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. Born and raised in Maine, Danielle’s journey began with a passion for understanding human experience, leading her to earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. She is now pursuing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Capella University, demonstrating her commitment to continuous growth and leadership in the field.
As a neurodivergent individual who has faced her own challenges, Danielle deeply understands how isolating and overwhelming the journey toward healing can feel. Having navigated her own mental health path—and experiencing firsthand the frustration of working with therapists who didn’t fully listen or connect—Danielle has made it her mission to provide something different. She creates a therapeutic alliance rooted in trust, empathy, and genuine understanding, making her a sought-after counselor for those seeking a safe, supportive space to embrace their authentic selves.
Danielle’s extensive experience spans roles in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, in-home support, child protective services, and behavioral health homes. This diverse background has shaped her holistic, compassionate approach, allowing her to meet clients where they are with tailored care and unwavering support.
Beyond her professional life, Danielle finds joy in her beautiful, blended family, raising two daughters and a bonus son with her supportive fiancé. She thrives on spending time by the water, playing sports, and unwinding with true crime and reality TV marathons. Her lived experience, combined with her professional expertise, empowers her to foster meaningful connections and guide clients toward healing and self-acceptance.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is rooted in creating a genuine, meaningful connection with clients through authenticity, empathy, and collaboration. I believe that a trusting therapeutic alliance is the cornerstone of growth and healing. By bringing my authentic self into the process and encouraging clients to do the same, I foster a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and valued.
I draw on relationship-based and early experience-focused principles from the psychodynamic approach. This perspective emphasizes the influence of early relationships—especially with primary caregivers—in shaping how individuals navigate connections later in life. When these early experiences involve inconsistency, neglect, or conflict, they can contribute to maladaptive attachment patterns such as trust issues, fear of abandonment, or emotional dependency.
Additionally, I integrate a trauma-informed lens, recognizing how trauma affects the brain, body, emotions, and relationships. This approach prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment as key components of healing. Through creative, flexible interventions, I tailor my work to each client’s unique needs, helping them recognize their strengths, overcome challenges, and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships with themselves and others.
